MY STORY

About 16 Years ago I had a very unique situation that happened.  Late one night I was watching TV simultaneously falling asleep (it's a guy thing).  On the TV was a commercial for a poor community in Africa.   What I saw terrified me.   I saw my 2 year old son stuck there. Basically, the kid in the video was my son.    The problem was, I couldn't get to him.  I wanted so bad to rescue him, but I couldn't.   Keep in mind, I was falling asleep, so the kid was obviously not my son, but the vision shook my heart so heavily I knew I needed to do something.

I immediately woke up his wife and said, "We need to adopt".  Well, every time we started to think about adoption, my wife would end up pregnant. Sadly, I never adopted.

However, 8 years ago God allowed me to do more than adopt.   I was blessed with the opportunity to house children and adults from Parental Care Ministries in Uganda.   Within a couple years later I had the opportunity to travel to Uganda.

DENIS M

Dennis was one of the teachers at Parental Care Ministries.  One day I went over to his house and found out what he was doing personally to serve his community.  We pulled up to a 800 square foot building that was his home, but saw 3 other small structures on his property.  Inside those structures were bunk beds.  Come to find out, he had over 50 young men living with him 5-21 years old.   He educated them, fed them, and taught them the Bible.

I was blown away by his commitment.  I wondered how he could feed and house this many people.  Well, one night I went back to the hotel where we were staying.  I heard this beautiful sound coming from the window.  I looked out the window and saw him playing at the restaurant.  Come to find out, to feed all these young men, he has to go out several times a night to play music to support his efforts.

Well, Dennis felt called to start a church and a school.  As a result, we've come beside him to do this.   Dennis school is a little more formal.  He's added a few new buildings over the last couple years.  He services about 80 children.   He's also started a church to meet the needs of the community.

EMMY D-

Emmy was a man about my age who had a real passion for business development.  He wanted to make money to help build Christian schools.  At the time he owned a large tree farm.  Trees are a valuable resource in this area of Uganda.  He also leads safari trips to make extra money.

Well, he approached me in 2024 and asked if I would help him start a pig farm.   In Mbarara Uganda there are resorts for Americans and other travels who want to do safaris.  It's hard for these resort restaurants to find pork.  So, the idea was

1. BUY A PIG FOR $25.00

2. RAISE THE PIG FOR $100

3. SELL THE PIG FOR $250

Each time we sell a pig the money goes to building schools or helping fund schools.

Well, we now have over 100 pigs continually and rapidly growing.

Since we started this we also started a brand new school servicing over 100 kids.   At this point the school is very rough, but it's a start.

SO HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?

FREE T-SHIRT

Initially I kept this quiet.  I didn't want anyone to know we were doing this.  However,  I've met so many amazing people through this business who want to give back.

So, we now have a way where everyone can be involved.  If clients donate $25.00 when they book a boat, we will give them a $20.00 T-Shirt.  The entire $25.00 goes to both ministries in Uganda.  I'm fortunate I can buy shirts at wholesale to help with this.   For every $25.00 you can get additional shirts.

EMMY D SCHOOL

This is EMMY D's school.  It's in Mbarara Uganda.  As you can see, it's rough, but it's a start.   Right now this school houses 100 kids.  Some of these kids live at the school full time.  They are orphans and don't have any other place to live.

DENNIS M SCHOOL

Dennis school is obviously much nicer.  They are in the process of building a well.  It's a 2-4 month process.  They literally dig the well by hand.  The wells are over 150 feet deep.

They tried to build one well.  They dug for 2 months and didn't hit water so they started over.

This school has about 80 students.
